Spectra Hall — Free Online Optics Puzzle Game

Bend light. Solve the beam. 100 hand-made levels.

Spectra Hall is a physics-based optics puzzle you play straight in your browser. Each level gives you a light source, a target, and a small tray of optical elements. Rotate and place mirrors, prisms, filters, beam splitters and lenses until the beam lands exactly where it should — at the right colour and the right brightness.

LEVEL CLEAR

There is no timer and no energy bar. Every one of the 100 levels is hand-designed around a single optical idea, and each level can be cleared in a known minimum number of moves.

How to play

  1. Drag an element from the tray onto the board, or tap an element and then tap an empty cell.
  2. Tap a placed element to rotate it 90° clockwise. Mirrors have a coated front face and a dead back face — the side matters.
  3. Watch the beam redraw itself after every move. Light is simulated in discrete beats, so delayed mirrors release their light one beat later.
  4. Match both requirements: brightness (each target has its own threshold) and colour (a target only accepts its own colour).
  5. Stuck? Use a hint — it places the next piece of a reference solution for you.

Optical elements

Fifteen elements appear across the 100 levels. These are the rules they obey:

Mirror
Mirror: the coated face bends light 90°, the back kills it. One beam only bends once on the same mirror.
Prism
Prism: splits white light into red, green and blue, each at 0.5.
Filter
Filter: tints light to its own colour and passes only that colour. Light must strike its face.
Beam Splitter
Beam splitter: one beam becomes two, each 0.5 — one straight on, one turning left 90°.
Beam Combiner
Beam combiner: same-colour light adds up, capped at 1.0; different colours are refused.
Switch
Switch: any light flips it on; it resets one beat after the light stops.
Shutter
Shutter: blocks light by default, opens only while its switch was on the previous beat.
One-Way Mirror
One-way mirror: bends light 90° from the coated face, passes it straight through the back.
Storage Crystal
Storage crystal: while empty it stores the first pure colour that hits it; when full, any light triggers a release.
Frosted Glass
Frosted glass: passes light straight through, dropping brightness one step.
Focusing Lens
Focusing lens: passes light straight through, raising brightness one step.
Portal
Portal: paired. Enter either end and leave the other in the same direction.
Tinting Mirror
Tinting mirror: bends light 90° and tints it to its own colour at the same time.
Energy Gate
Energy gate: passes only light of 0.5 or brighter.
Delay Mirror
Delay mirror: bends light 90°, but the bent beam leaves one beat later.

100 levels, 20 chapters

Every chapter teaches one element: mirrors first, then filters, prisms, splitters, combiners, lenses, one-way mirrors, portals, delay mirrors, storage crystals, shutters, energy gates and tinting mirrors. Later chapters combine them.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spectra Hall free?
Yes. All 100 levels play in the browser for free, with no account and no download.
Do I need to know physics?
No. Every rule is taught by a level: the first chapter is mirrors, and later elements get their own five-level chapter.
Does progress save?
Yes. Cleared levels and stars are stored in your browser, so you can close the tab and come back.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Drag and tap both work with touch, and the board resizes to fit your screen.
What is a perfect clear?
Finishing a level within its par move count. Par is the true minimum, verified for every level.
